Well the training camps are well under
way and reading the reports is a good way to start your research for
the football season. Now you don't have to read every report just
keep an eye on the highlights and watch how the new players interact
with the old players.
With the preseason starting this next
week every new player is trying their hardest because in just a month
or less the lineup of each team will be finalized, so this is their
shot at getting on the team. Players that are not the star players
but the support players are just as important, if not more so, as the
star players that get all the press.
It does not matter how great your
Quarterback is if he does not have the protection in the pocket to
get the throws off. It also does not matter how great your Running
Back or Wide Receiver is if they don't have the Blockers to get them
through the line to begin with. What too many people forget is that
it takes a complete football team to win and not just one or two
“Star” players.
History is full of examples of great
players who never reached their full potential and their teams never
reach the Superbowl because their teams could not give them the
support they needed. So when you are doing your research don't just
look at the star players, you need to find out if they have the
support they need.
For example if the best Pass Receiver
in the League is on a team that has no other good Pass Receivers then
every team in the League is going to cover him every time he is on
the field. For a great Receiver to make the big plays there must be
several other good Receivers on the same team so that the coverage
will have to spread out. Same goes for a Running Back if he does not
have the blockers and other threats for the defense to watch out for,
then the defense will be all over him every time he takes the field
and he will never be able to make the big plays he should.
So remember in your research that even
the greatest player needs a good team to support him and that no one
player alone can win a game. It should also be noted that if the
entire team depends too heavily on one or two players, then they play
so much that the chances of them getting injured increases greatly.
So you should really watch which team is the most well rounded team
and not necessarily which team has the biggest Star Players when your
placing your bets.
